What DMVFW Stands For

DMV Fashion Week is a bi annual fashion week and was created to give designers and fashion show organizers the opportunity to showcase their new collections and shows ahead of the new season when they will become available for purchase.  DMVFW will starting from 20/20 will take place in March and October every year.

This allows buyers, bloggers and editors to see what brands have planned for next season which influences the trend that you will see in magazines, stores and websites.  DMV Fashion Week incorporates runway-to-retail business model which enables shoppers to make purchases from the new collections immediately after the fashion each show thereby capitalizing on the buff from the shows.

DMVFW is preceded by New York, London, Milan and Paris with opening night on Thursday normally Cocktail mixers, official DMVFW Show will start on Fridays and will run up to Tuesday depending on other show organizers. The majority of shows take place across the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia corridors. DMV Fashion Week will follow the industry standards set forth by the Big Four – NYFW, London FW, Paris FW and Milan FW.

Some of the DMVFW is an invite-only event, meaning that it’s closed off to the public. However, DMV Fashion Week Shows, are ticketed events that gives fashionistas the opportunity to attend runway shows and seminars.

Industry buyers, editors, bloggers will make up most of the audience at shows during DMV Fashion Week, giving the designers the opportunity to showcase their collections directly to the decision makers.
There will be musical performances from renowned artists as well as aspiring artists with some celebrities in attendance.

The essence of DMV Fashion Week is to promote the cultural diversity of the DMV area.  Boasting of the local designers as well as designers from all the USA, Europe, The West Indies, The Continent of Africa and Asia.

The birth of DMVFW is to change the narratives of the fashion industry in our beloved fashion forward region which houses the Nations Capital! The Debut of DMVFW will see the launching of more celebrity Brands but more importantly the launching of The Junior Bosses of Fashion talents. These young aspiring talents will be debuting their collections and works in the fields of:
Fashion Design
Make Up Artistry
Fashion Photography
Fashion Styling.

To teach the young entrepreneur how to build Generational Wealth. Many people are born with the natural talent as a Designer, A Model, a Makeup Artist, Photographer or a Stylist, some are so lucky that they realize this from an early age but may sometimes let go of these talents due to lack of not having the resources or not knowing how to navigate through this unique industry. Some also start but are unable to continue due to the fact that they have not mastered the art of handling the business/financial aspect of that talent.
This workshop is put together to enhance the talents of the budding Junior Boss of Fashion. The Program brings together some of the best in their field to teach and enhance these young Artists how to be the best and bring out the best part of their talent but more importantly to teach them how to run their talent as a business.
These young bosses will be taught how to open and run a business by education them on the business aspect of the fashion industry, by teaching them how to set up the right infrastructure of a Company that will last for generations to come.
The winner of the Fashion Design will debut his or her collection at DMVFW whilst the winner of the modeling will walk for the designer, the make-up artist and Stylist will work with our Glam Squad throughout the show, our Junior Photographer will be part of the Press.
